Cemetery Rules & Regulations
These guidelines help preserve the cemetery grounds and ensure a peaceful, respectful environment for families, visitors and those entrusted to our care.
Visitor Rules
The cemetery is open to visitors from dawn until dusk. No person may enter or remain within the cemetery before dawn or after sundown, except police and authorized staff.
Animals, including dogs, are not permitted within the cemetery. Guide dogs are exempt.
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on cemetery property.
Vehicles must remain on the travelled portion of the road and must not exceed 15 km/hr.
The Cemetery Board may restrict vehicle access when roads or grounds are soft or otherwise unsuitable for traffic.
Burial Policies
No interment may take place without written authorization from the interment rights holder or an authorized person designated under the cemetery's rules.
A valid burial permit or cremation certificate is required before an interment can take place.
No more than one casket burial is permitted per plot. Only one body may be interred in a grave.
A maximum of two cremated remains may be interred in a standard plot under the conditions established by the cemetery.
The scattering of human ashes is not permitted anywhere on the cemetery grounds.
All full-body caskets must be placed in a concrete burial vault for earth burial.
No grave may be opened for interment or disinterment without permission from the Omagh Cemetery Board.
Monument & Memorial Policies
Permission from the Omagh Cemetery Board is required before a monument, gravestone or memorial is installed, removed, cleaned or altered.
Contractors and workers performing work within the cemetery must be approved by the Omagh Cemetery Board.
Monuments must be placed on an adequate concrete base. No foundation may be less than five feet in depth.
One flat and level marker set flush with the ground may be placed at each grave in addition to the monument.
Each grave requires four corner posts to identify the plot area. The interment rights holder purchases the posts and the Cemetery Board installs them at no charge.
Interment rights holders are responsible for keeping stones and monuments in good repair.
No person may change the grading of a plot, create a walkway, cut sod, or move corner stones or markers without permission from the Cemetery Board.
Visiting Hours
The cemetery is open to visitors daily from dawn until dusk.
